Honestly it's not the store I didn't like, its the fact that each level only has about 4-5 places you can put a portal. I miss being able to zip around the levels via portals. Why the hell would I want to spend all my time walking when I'm holding a PORTAL GUN. Seriously, replay portal 1 and look at all the places you can put portals, then play portal 2... Even the escape missions turned from "where can you creatively place a portal" to "enjoy these catwalks"

I saved one portion just to listen to the Cave Johnson Lemon Speech over and over again.

Personally I feel the game was good but lacked some serious ingenuity during the making of it. It consistently reused the same scenarios over and over again. For people who hadn't played the old portal, it was very fun, as a few of my friends tell me. But for someone who played the first game. This one seemed to simply be a polished and rebuffed version of that game with a longer play time.

The replay value is decently high. I still go back to play it from time to time and there are still places that I get stumped on for a few moments. After everything is accounted for, I'd still only give the game a solid 7.5-8/10. If there are any added DLC features you can seriously have aside from the stupid customizing crap you get for co-op, like challenge levels or something like in the first game, then I can forsee this staying the current score.
They need a random room generator Make something different every time and it will never get old lol.

I don't get these people... the DLC isn't story or gameplay-related or anything like that. It's just extras. For me, that's acceptable to have as DLC, even on day one. What annoys me is when something game-related is DLC.

I don't think they're working rationally here...

Not being able to change the FOV in a PC game = console port, period.

You're a complete idiot if you're raging over the fact they have paid DLC for portal 2. The metascore should be based on how the gameplay/graphics/performance work. Not your asshat idea of what should be available to you.

I personally love the game, it destroys the first completely as it adds an actual story to the game, and the comedy was there as well. I did pay for some of the content, but it's your choice, you don't have to buy it.

I can't understand why there are so many stupid people in this world, its pretty simple you guys, if you don't want the extra DLC that is COMPLETELY USELESS, IT IS JUST FOR FUN, then don't buy it. Same goes for any other game out there, DLC is a choice to add more content to your game, and personally I rather pay a few dollars to give me something new to do/look than 50 every 6 months for a "new" game.

They're(user reviewers) using the metacritic score to show their extreme distaste of the practice of on-release DLC. I completely agree. DLC at release, more importantly DLC that is not free @ release is an appauling practice. It should have been added before release or made free.

It is unfortunate portal 2 and valve have to be the ones chastized for what has apparently become an industry standard. I know we want our game developers to make money and be profitable. At the same time we have to ask ourselves what we're willing to consent to pay extra and what we aren't. PayDLC is a great idea but having it available at release feels insulting. Feels like its content that was purposely held back from initial release and therefore like we weren't getting the whole game we paid for.

Normally I'd agree w/ the naysayers, as they've been right on several other titles before. However, I cannot on Portal 2. The only one I can relate w/ personally is the price. I spent $80 for me an pioneerisloud, and I've completed the single player, and co-op, as well as all but a few achievements in about 18 hours.

The "day 1 DLC" for purely non-gameplay related aesthetic value, that's not only completely optional and easily ignorable, but is no worse than the TF2 store that people seem to like. That's probably why valve put it in there.

As far as port goes... If it is a port, it's a DAMNED good one. Only thing that I find lacking are some more in-depth graphics options. Motion blur was noticeably lacking in comparison to Portal 1. Would've been nice to see some even higher-res textures on the PC version, but on every platform it looks beautiful and plays equally well, espc. considering the old-ass engine it's on.

The puzzles did decidedly feel much more console-controls centric as they were slower-paced and most often times simpler than what I was expecting.

If I remember correctly, there was a 4chan (or similar) movement to down rate the game on Metacritic so the scores were extremely skewed. I'm not sure if they removed that large batch of poor reviews but even if not, it seems people have been adding enough good reviews to bring up the score.
