So to be clear, you are going to sell your Gigabyte SB board (at much less than you bought it for) to buy a new Z68 board (which will be much more expensive) and then spend countless hours doing a reformat and reload on the off chance that your current video card will die?
How about you spend $25 on a cheapo video card from all the money you will save on this somewhat strange upgrade, and throw it in a drawer in case your video card dies?
Alternatively, I am quite certain it would take you a lot less time to go out and buy a new video card than it would to change your motherboard and reformat and reload your OS....
I don't game either and I don't watch movies on my PC monitor..stream them to TVs. You say the Z68 will be much higher in price vs P67? How much? I'm thinking for my purposes the new onboard graphics will be fine. I heard they are actually pretty good...your opinion ?
I'm thinking I might be better off and cheaper with onboard rather than a discrete card. your thoughts and others are welcome.
