2.0GHz vs 2.8GHz for Laptop?

Thread Starter
I've had my laptop for a year or two now (specs are intel core 2 duo @2.0GHz, 3GB RAM, Mobility Radeon 4570 512MB) and I use it for Work with programs like InDesign and Photoshop, and I also use it for Gaming with games like BFBC2, DiRT 2 and Crysis 2. I wanted to boost the performance for games as I currently get 35-45fps on crysis 2 but I wanted to up the settings and the resolution without sacraficing framerate. I was thinking of upgrading the processor from a P7350 @ 2.0GHz to a T9600 @2.8GHz, but I have no knowledge of what difference this would make.

Any opinions would be great thx smile.gif

As long as your laptop can support that big of an upgrade, it would make a huge difference. But bear in mind that BFBC2 really needs a quad core to get good framerates. You might still struggle with BFBC2.

I can share my experience with you.

My now retired laptop was upgraded from a Pentium dual core 1.6GHz to a Core 2 Duo T8100 2.1GHz. I noticed a lot better minimum framerates and games ran much smoother.

So yeah. But it all depends on how much you're paying for the T9600, GPU might also be limiting.
