Xbox 360 Capture Card

Thread Starter
I was considering buying a capture card to record some xbox gameplay, but I have no idea where to start when it comes to choosing one. I checked amazon (I'm from the UK) however I could only see a few available, all of which had ~3 star ratings.

Can anyone recommend me a capture card, preferably under around £50, but anything higher may be considered. I play xbox using the HD scart cables, whether that would make much difference when it comes to the final product is also something to consider.

Thanks.

Do xboxs even have scart outputs? The way I have my set up is that I have a PCI capture card in my PC. I output from the xbox using component cables (Red/green/blue and yellow/red for audio), then put that into a y splitter, with one end going into my tv and one into my pc capture card for recording. There's a nice list here on microdirect, or one on ebuyer. I can't vouch for any of them personally.

Have fun!

While guydabest's method will work, it's a crude method and will only record in SD. Just something to keep in mind.

I'd like the quality to be as high as possible, as the plan is to become a pretty big youtuber (I know it's a long shot, but I want to try it properly, it seems all those who are actually good at the games and can commentate well become successful eventually), so in my opinion quality is very important, provided the price isn't too high.

Best I have ever used. Records gameplay in crisp clear quality in 1080p.

Avermedia HD DVR.

Max 30 fps, recording software is wack so Fraps is highly recommended, PCI e 1x slot required. $100.

Should be able to get a Dazzle for that price. I used to have the Dazzle Platinum and it worked well for me. Although if you want good quality I would save up and get a Blackmagic or HD PVR. They can record in 720p while the Dazzle can only record in 480p.

I had a dazzle way back before they were extremely popular, I liked it alot...

Happauge HD PVR.... 60FPS 720p,1080i and it has its own software that renders the videos that can open right up in vegas, no fancy format... cost about $200, I have one and I love it... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-030-_-Product

EDIT: didn't see your budget up there... but seriously consider saving for this.
