nm real world difference between 980x and 2600k , besides your epeen size .

if gaming is your main priority , you made the wrong decision ..
Maybe he also does rendering, encoding & such things that can use the extra cores/threads. In the real world a 980x beats up a 2600k there.
Either way, as munaim1 said, he wanted it, he got it, he's happy with it. Let him enjoy it.

Man, this site is full of Monday morning quarterbacks, its ridiculous. Every time someone gets something they have to chime in with "why didnt you get this? Or why didnt you get that?" Just go to another thread and find something that matters to talk about.

Just like when people say, "Should I go with this video card or that video card?" Then half the people chime in with a totally different card that does not meet the OP's needs or budget.

OP didnt ask anyone on their opinion of his top of the line cpu, he was asking about his HDD and video card, move on trolls.

Congrads on the cpu OP, Im in the same boat as everyone else, 5850 and maybe move the other stuff for an SSD.

Why wouldnt you want a top of the line cpu that beats a sandy ? If u had the cash I know I would. I think the sandy 1155 is a stop gap when Bulldozer and Ivy arrive it is going to be interesting.

edit: I am think on bulldozer for my next build of it all goes to plan but who knows. This industry changes every day as people take new gpus and last series to the next top oc. That makes the industry IMO.
980x does not outperform sandybridge in gaming but for other uses maybe, Yes i agree, But hey its a $1000 cpu

As far as bulldozer goes i have heared to many rumors to comment good and bad so im burying my head in the sand on that one but i hope for all our sakes it proves to be good

If he litterally uses his rig for gaming/browsing the internet then that extra money would be best spent upgrading the gpu he has, but if he can afford both then great! but his priority now should be a gpu that matches the performance of his new cpu and perhaps an ssd

Either way like i said nice cpu enjoy.

yeah get the ocz vertex 3, they won't be putting out another faster one for a while, so would be worth while. Got my today :-))))) I'm sure a good overclocked 980x would still be able to compete with the upcoming chips so relax...
