P4 660 3.6 to E2160 is laggy during Resident E. 5

whats up.
I upgraded my Processor from a Pentium 4 660 3.6ghz to Core Duo 1.8ghz E2160 cpu then I overclocked that processor to 2.0ghz.

My video card is a AMD ATI HD 4650 in Overdrive settings 600 clock speed, Memory speed is at 400. I can go up to 680 with core clock and 500 clock for memory speed.

I thought this processor would improve FPS but I'm still having low FPS running around 18.5 during the Fixed Benchmarks (the games special feature I guess) And the Variable Benchmark is around the same number.
I also noticed the controls were slightly improved during gameplay especially during No Mercy but I'm not really feeling the difference with this newer processor.
Plus I have trouble killing all these zombies especially due to re-loading weapons in the game an-all.
Any adviceis welcome.

I have 2gb of memory too overclockable too.

This game takes a reallly good dual core to run. Like a E8400. And the Req spec is a Quad core. I beat the game awhile ago when i had a E8400 with my current setup. Got a solid 70 frames. now like 120 lol

I would have upgraded to an e7200, it has 3mb of cache and is a dual core wolfdale that overclocks like crazy for cheap even on the value g41 chipset, I got mine to 3.8 with no problem.

the e2160 was still really good about 2 years ago, but it is basically on par with an Athlon X2 BE-2350, both are dual cores with not enough cache and have started to really age.

the 660 to 2160 is a good upgrade for alot of things, mainly windows responsiveness, just not to play RE5

Upgrade video card, RAM and CPU, in that order.

Quite frankly you're not going to notice a big difference transitioning from a P4 660 to a E2160. In terms of relative power the E2160 is about 60% more powerful, but its still on the low end of the dual cores. Consequently you're not going to notice much of a difference when gaming in something as modern as Resident Evil 5. You're still firmly in the minimum hardware required category.

You'll notice a performance increase in other categories, but RE5 is not going to be one of them.

This budget CPU was definitely something I really wanted even in if gaming wasn't greatly impacted right away. I have seen good responses in web surfing, starting up, power consumption & heat disipation. That alone is way better than the Pentium 4
I did overclcock the Video card core-lock to 625mhz memory is set to 425 mhz...after all it is a DX-10 card and so is the game.
Cpu is overclocked to 2.2ghz. I did see some slight improvement in fps but nothing extravagent. I'm gonna see how far I can overclock this motha...to see what happens.

BTW I do have another stick of RAM coming in it should arrive tomorrow. Its a Wintec Memory deal I can overclock that too.
I am already thinking of taking back & getting a better H/Sink & Fan...Tomorrow. My goal is to get A low end C2D extreme CPU, A Low End quad or a High-end C2D. But that is about a short ways out though.
