MSI 6970 Ligthning impressions - Page 6

How inthe world are you getting those scores with stock clocks on one 6970? I have a 6970 and the best I got stock was 1087 at 1920x1080 res. I OC to 950/1450 and got 1120. Your CPU is not much faster than mine so that really cant be it. I have tried a 4.4ghz OC on mine and it made no real differnece in heaven.

Right off the I oc'd this puppy to 1000/1400 and ran heaven, 1500 was the score 1474 at stock. I did bump up the volts from 1174 to 1184 using afterburner. I would give lots of pics but the ex iwfe took the camera as the door was hitting her in the a** so sorry.
All in all this card rocks!!! Going to try the dirt bench and play some games to see how it does.

Please note. After crashing/lock up, I have restarted my pc and played Badco with stock setings and had this lock up. On stock...

960/1385, 1174v, stable, all testing programs and unlimited play in BadCo 2

Using AB 2.1, results:

Stock voltage,(1174) stock settings 940/1375

965/1400 Kombuster ok, crashed Unigine

970/1385 Crashed BadCo2, 13 minutes

970/1400 Crashed badCo2 20 minutes

980/1410 15 minutes Kombuster, passed Kom benchmark, Crashed BadCo2 29 minutes.

990/1420, Crash

990/1420 w/ 1180V kombuster ok, crashed Unigine.

1050/1502 w/ 1184V crashed on 3/26 Unigine.

I have tried these settings using both positions on the card that have preloaded bios. Same results.

If this card is basically a O/C'ed version of the 6970 with a sweet effective cooler, great. But the way this card was built with the oversized pcb, more power phases then my MB, dedicated power management, and advertised Overclock ability... Thats not what I have.

MsiAlex, I modified my folder in 2.1 AB last week. I installed beta 2.2 last night so I will do the same.

Thanks.

EDIT, I updated to Beta 2.2 and files transfered, I had the fix running.

I just dont understand how everyone is getting better scores than me with the same card. It is not like my system has an old CPU and crap mobo, pSU, RAM etc. Doesnt make any sense. I need to understand what is going on in my system to make it run so much slower. My 3Dmark Vantage score was about avg it said but not that great. Only just over 22000 score. GPU was just over target adn CPU was barely under target. I turned off speed stepping as well. Could hyperthreading be the issue? I know some people disable it.

For those still looking for the memory volts slider look just to the right of the voltage slider at the top and you will see an arrow
