she screams alright =p like my mums hair dryer , we have something in common now mum .

it is seriously loud though considering i have 10 x 1500rpm fans in my antec 1200 , the only fan i can hear is the corsair .. Just amazes me how strong the bearings are in this fan to run at 24v for 3 months straight .. i tried to overvolt heaps of 120mm fans , the cheap ones died on the spot ( had that fried electrical smell ) including the noctua's ..

RAD BOXES help reduce inter fence, it increase air flow and reduces noise but, takes up space, i make mine out of fans i just cut the fan out of the middle.

you see why fan blades pass by thing such as radiator fins it makes a noise so by spacing the fan further away from grates or fins in contained box it's keeps the air flow and less noise, kind similar to longer wider exhaust pipe on a 2 stroke.

I hooked the pump up to a non-regulated fan header (as the instructions say) and then I attached the two fans (without one of the resistors inline) to the CPU header.

In the bios, I was able to set the CPU fan modulation to "voltage" (PWM only works for 4 pin fans, and I'm not sure why auto didn't work) anyhow once I did that, the BIOS does a good job at cranking down the fans when idle, and only goes to screaming banshee mode when I'm under full load.

With that configuration I'm able to get my 2600K up to 4.8Ghz.

So I ordered a H70 and after reading this Im scared to hear this thing run. I guess I will consider replacing the fans. Is there a performance drop if you put the gentle typhoon fans in it?

If anything, it should be a performance increase and a volume level decrease.

You could also consider lower RPM fans and adding a shroud as mentioned before. Some great info here.
