Wow I've been looking around and I'm convinced people can keep the suggestions coming though, always looking for more input!

In either case Axel, you've been supremely helpful.... thanks a bunch for all your advice! +rep

EDIT: Zydrix, thanks for your input... however, this post being in the Intel section of the forums implies that I am trying to stick to Intel processors.

well at the very least I've decided that the i5 2500 is a solid starting point. I know that the graphics card Axel suggested is also a solid choice and very well respected.

ok, i would personally spend the extra i think 20 bucks an get the 2500k version. the the gpu is nice. but i would personally also find a card like xfx or certain evga cards with lifetime warranty, just for that added peace of mind

If you go back and take a look at Axel's build you will notice this is the 2500K. Also, the card has a 2year labor / 3year parts warranty.... that's plenty for me as I will plan on even a further upgrade / potentially SLI somewhere in the not-so-distant future

Do not listen to this guy. This is one of the most unbalanced system I've seen. When you drop half your budget on a video card, you're not going to have nothing much to spare.
GTX 580 is $450, 4GB of ram is about $25 after MIR there are plenty, he said he doesn't want to get into overclocking yet so no separate cooler needed and yes I know what I'm suggesting

Is the GTX 580 that much of a performance difference from the 560 that Axel suggested? From a price/performance standpoint... I dunno if I can justify that much of a price boost when I'm already looking at a card that is plenty for all the applications I'll be using it for

sorry for early bump/double post, but I had another quick question on this proposed build by Axel.

Can anyone tell me on the Lian Li which fan is intake and which is outtake? If I do go with this case I would be considering adding another outtake fan and potentially adding them all to a fan controller, 3 total. I would mount the 3rd fan and the fan controller in the extra drive bays, this case has nine total and I assume i would only be using two, one for the SSD and one for the HDD. Does this sound about right? Keep in mind I have never done my own custom case assembly (all experience in prefab systems )
