Kane & Lynch 2 crashes if Steam is in Online Mode

Thread Starter
I bought the Kane & Lynch pack when it was on sale months ago, and I'm having a little trouble with Dog Days (that's the sequel, for the uninitiated). It's the damnedest thing. I can get the game to run just fine when the Steam Client is in Offline Mode, but the game crashes right after either the Eidos or Io Interactive title card(s) if the client is in Online Mode.

I've submitted tickets to both Steam Support and Square-Enix (nee: Eidos) Support, and they're both playing ping-pong with my patience in a game of "It can't possibly be our fault because our product is absolutely flawless, but we're going to half-ass it anyway because there's a supervisor looking over our shoulder. Here's a KB article we found by typing in a few key words involving your issue, as if you weren't smart enough to try that yourself, see if you can't find your solution in here. Failing that, bug the other guys".

Since neither one of them are going to help me, I thought I might give it a shot here. I'd like to attach a crash report to this post, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to turn a ".mdmp" file into one of the approved file extension types.

Applicable system specs are as follows:

MSI 790FX-GD70 Mainboard
AMD Phenom II X4 965 w/ 8GB DDR3 RAM

That was my first thought, yeah. I'd even played with Catalyst AI settings (such as they are in the new AMD VISION Control Panel; I can't figure out which setting is just plain "Off"), since that's also a common issue. Neither worked.

I've copied most of the information in the crash .mdmp file to a .txt file labeled simply "crash.txt", which I will attach to this post. You will see that the crash summary is "The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access", which I think is a memory issue of some kind.
