Gentle Typhoon AP-13's enough for RX360? - Page 3

Noctua NF-P12's are not good radiator fans. If you want a test to read on relative performance of fans on a water cooling radiator read this test by Martinm210. The results show that the NF-P12's push a low amount of air and do it with two distinct resonance points; one at 7V and one at 12V.

Edit: Results chart:

/edit

I can confirm this from personal experience of having one on my RX120 and switching to a GT-AP15: The NF-P12 is a lot noisier and pushes less air.

I'd suppose this to be a more accurate comparison on a radiator?

Results on the Megahalems (average):

Speed: 1350 RPM
CPU temp over ambient: 57.5c
SPL: 25.5 dBA
“Quiet rushing sound; almost no hum; pleasantâ€

And as Chunky Chimp has stated, the results are not those you would expect on a radiator, but it does prove that the AP-13 is close in performance to the noisier P12, and for that slight difference I would choose the GTs over the Noctuas.

Which for the uninitiated means the sound you hear is 40 times LOWER. (Each decibel up is a ten fold increase in sound)

LOL, I leave for a while and my thread has devolved into a battle about fan superiority. I bought the GT's. Everyone can stop fighting. I never said they were the greatest fans in all of existence, but they are nearly universally beloved, do great on radiator tests, and have the benefit of matching the case mod I am doing quite well (I really, really don't want to pull apart a ton of fans to paint.) I simply wanted to know if their performance would be adequate for my purposes. For those of you who answered that question, thank you. The rest of you may continue your battle here, or in a new "OMG MY FANS ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOURS" thread. Thanks

Good work, according to Martin's tests (which wont be entirely accurate as you are using a RX360, not a MCR120) you will loose out on ~1.5CFM, which won't be noticeable, and be 15dBA quieter, which will be noticeable.

Enjoy your new fans! Incidentally, now you have ordered them, where did you get them?

aquatuning us / canada has about 19 left, and the supposedly resurrected crazypc says they have some (for around 11 dollars at that!) But their checkout system was glitchy so I couldn't get theirs.
