The reason why is because we have already tackled many of the problems with mobile processors with desktop/laptop processors back in the day. So of course the ARM chips in smartphones will have a faster performance increase. Also, as the chips increase the ways to produce better and better yields at smaller die sizes and greater performance has increase as well.

This makes me not want to buy a smartphone, I would feel like I should have waited if there are drastic improvements in a few short months. Though I don't know how much longer I can wait, probably going to give in to the pressure this summer

This summer is going to be as good a time as any since lots more dual core phones are going to be released like the evo 3d.

We get battery tech advances every 10 years or so. Just gotta wait.

Not sure if it will ever get better as CPU's consume more power lol....there's gonna be a wall somewhere.

Difference with phones is, there's a lot larger restriction on power consumption, and heat output. I don't think we will see phones with built in fans and batteries that last for an hour when the phone is idle.

Get a Kindle. When I am able to find a PDF for a class I am taking during the semester, I just convert it to MOBI and put it straight on my Kindle. The Kindle is so light, I can always afford to carry it on me even if I don't need it.

I'm looking forward to the HTC Sensation. Dual core 1.2ghz. My HD2 was the first phone in the US to have the 1ghz Snapdragon. I have it at 1.52 now. Amazing stuff coming.

Well if they kept the galaxy s II the same thickness as the first one and filled that space with battery cells than maybe we would finally have a powerful smart phone with an awesome battery life.

Unfortunately this will never happen because the majority of consumers choose form over function.
