Still too slow.... The fastest Xeon is still Westmere-EX hexcore at 3.46GHz.

I was hoping for faster Sandy Bridge Xeons....
Once again...

$7,275.00

No thank you

Why don't they just put the stock speeds higher. It would be so much easier than to have to overclock by ourselves.
There might be complications, but it's not like half the sandybridge won't reach 4.0Ghz. Why don't they give the non-power users some power?
If I hadn't known better, I would have thought they just took 5Ghz chips, downclocked them and put them on the market.

It wouldn't do any good for customers to create the second sun in their own computers.

Think of it this way.

The 10 core CPU is a 10 lane freeway. The maximum speed is 100 Km/hrs, even though there was only one car driving, it wouldn't mean that he could go 1000 Km/hrs.

But in some programs, eg. Folding it can almost work like a 28 GHz CPU, but still not quite.

Why do you say that? Isn't massive parallel capability far more important than clock speed in a server environment? For an example I look to the current Intel and AMD 8-core offerings; they are all relatively low clock speed compared to what we see in enthusiast or even mainstream processors. Opteron 12-core processers are clocked even lower. Surely this must be for a well-thought-out reason.
