Noctua NF-S12B Grommet installation

Thread Starter
This may sound like a silly question, but how do you install the Noctua NF-S12B grommets? All I see on the internet is reviews praising how easy it is to install, but it may be me just over thinking it but I can't figure out how to install it. I am trying to install it into the Corsair 800D's lower HDD bay fan spot.

Note that the fan is held on with machine screws. Machine screwholes are too small for vibration isolator pegs.

When I ran into the same issue with my own case, I drilled out those holes to accommodate vibration isolator pegs. This:

Scroll down to the section labeled "Ultra soft fan mounts" and that should show you the basic idea of how these are installed. Different screws, same idea. http://www.madshrimps.be/articles/article/391/1#axzz1KslamrBQ

Hmm... I don't feel like drilling out larger fan holes... is the sound between machine screws and grommets that noticeable?

Maqcine screws transmit vibrations. I forgot to mention an alternate method: Velcro pads.

Trim a double-sided Velcro pad to fit each corner. Then peel and stick to the fan corners. Then peel the other side of each pad and stick the whole assemblage to the position. The Velcro pads will hold your fan and greatly attenuate vibrations.

You can get Velcro pads at hardware stores and probably Wal-Mart.
