Dude, I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I am horrible with these technical audio terms. Audio isn't my thing.

Want to explain it in a way where a 6 year old could understand? biggrin.gif

This, and you could also use a dual pole single throw switch instead of diodes if your looking for a bit of simplicity.

Should have 6 pins, make sure its not momentary.

here's a pic of the wires.

Each of the three silver bits on the plug connects to one of the wires. The two smaller wires are the sound channel wires. Those are the ones to connect the diodes to

No, diodes only let current go through one way. Audio is AC. Not a good combination. You'd need to use a switch.

Yes, again, use a switch. I think it could work without, but you'd have to be very careful not to have both sources on at the same time or else bad things could happen.

Found a schematic,

audio-output-selector.png

Input would be the speakers, and the two computers would be on the right.

What type of bad things could happen if I went with the set-up I listed? I already ordered the cables anyway. I don't want anything to happen to my PC and laptop frown.gif

Well now I feel awesome tongue.gif I blame it on 3 hours sleep.

Indeed, just use switch. Original plan ftw.

If you've understood how to use switch, cool. If not, drawing very easy diagram now haha.

I don't think you understand... I don't even know what a switch is, let alone know how to use one...

Just tell me. Will my method have any side effects such as short circuiting one of my PC's?
