i want to try more fps games

CS and SC2 definitely won't see any sort of performance gain from Sandy Bridge. GTA IV, probably, COD maybe/maybe not, but definitely not CS or SC2.

Do you have a PC yet? You should go here and fill out details on what your PC currently is or what you're looking to get, and we can definitely help you better from there.

Yes it is. It's due to bad coding more than anything. Crysis 2 had better coding and was better optimized for hardware (even if it is a console port).

You saw the same thing between Crysis and Crysis: Warhead as well. Despite having better graphics, IMO, Warhead ran better because it wasn't so badly coded as Crysis was. If you want to see what I mean, start up a Crysis demo then open the dev console. You're going to see a ton of errors.

Crysis 2 can run maxed on any half decent gaming rig.... To properly max crysis 1 you need an intel i5, or i7 CPU clocked 4ghz or higher and 2 480's or 570's

Yeah, they eased up on it, including decreasing the texture size by half.

I used to run a 965 @ 4 GHz and it held back GTA IV. It ran BFBC2 fine though.
I am extremely happy with my 2600k and I say it's worth the money, but I do fold 24/7 and work with video occasionally.

Weird my 965 at 4Ghz and 4.15~Ghz was good enough for GTA IV, some lag sometimes like heavy areas with lots of explosions but that was it. Very minimal. (Sig rig btw)

That's due to a CPU bottleneck.

I had it maxed out and frames would dip under 30 at times. No issues with my 2600k.

Yeah I know it is, didn't happen often. And I had it all maxed out also, except for the density stuff. Maybe you had view distance all the way up and I didn't? Either way, its not that important.
