in day to day stuff you wont notice, in some games you will notice, and in benchmarks you will be dumb-struck

Yeah I want the Asus GTX 560 Ti (Yes I like Asus because their service center is 20 minutes drive away XD)

But that is also almost $100 more...
Honestly, and I'm just trying to be helpful here, I would go with the 6850 because if you choose to crossfire in the future, you won't bottleneck dual 6850's either. I'm planning on adding another myself.

That video has nothing to do with the sandy vs phenom debate. Its simple sandy bridge is better than phenom straight up no questions asked. Every single person that went from a phenom to a sandy agrees. The only people arguing is people that dont have experience in going from phenom to sandy.

Thats not saying phenom is bad, they just don't have the top CPU right now that may or may not change with BD.

IMO Bench marks do not matter at all. If you want a fair comparison do in game tests with both, thats the best way to see is real world benches.

Unless someone has owned both chips they can not give an objective opinion.

Because he has no such problem regarding performance right now.
$150 can be better spent on whatever else he desires in life.

bottom line: is the 2500k really worth the extra $150 (to ME specifically)?

p.s. i've been a notebook person all my life and for the past 4 months i've been on an asus eeepc 1015pem n550 hooked up to a dell st2320l (because my notebook crashed and i need a machine for school as well so i went with a netbook for convenience and price)

Buy the PII 955 with the 6850 now, save some money, and then eventually buy a second 6850 later. As mentioned.

Or if you feel like it, an SSD later.

Or this !
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...re%20hd%205850 ... I mean ... Why not ? It's an awesome HD 5850 at just $140 !
If you can afford it, grab two .. That would be my ultimate recommentation with the Phenom II x4 955. Screw the SSD for now ..

For all those recommending the 955 here is yet another user being bottle necked, again.

Read this eventually - http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/98...leneck-17.html ..

Mixed results ... It's like some games are far lesser optimized for Phenom's, while the Intel's tend to have the significant lead. In a few games, that is.

Afaik, Phenoms have a good amount of raw power to use. Some software is just bad coded for Phenoms architecture.

After seeing all the mixed results, that would be my conclusion.

If you where correct then the choice is still obvious. Pick a chip the programs don't run well on or pick a chip that all programs run fine on, hmm...

It's not that simple ... The 955 runs great on far most games out there.

If I were to build my current system now, I would have picked an i5-2500K instead.
However, I'm still quite happy with my Phenom. It almost fits all my needs and is spectacular for the price.
The only game it has shown a clear bottleneck in is Crysis Warhead, which I never play anyway.
