I was the one who recommended he buy it... I wasmt aware at the time you got DDR3 and DDR5 models. I feel like such an ass..... A9800GT could probably overpower this bottlenecked GTS450.....doh.gif

Ah, well, at least he's got Dx11 smile.gif Don't worry too much about it, I bet he paid less for that 450 than any of us. Also, an aftermarket cooler + separate heatsinks for the vRam, and *maybe* he can OC it out of that bottleneck smile.gif

Hello,

New to the comm and overclocking. I have been doing quite a bit of research and this guide has made the most sense to me. One bit I need some clarification on is the part about running LinX. When it refers to LinX "crashing" does that mean the system crashing (BSOD/reboot) or LinX stopping in error.

I have my Athlon II x3 440 at a 262 ref clock (x15) and the CPU voltage at 1.50 (normal is 1.45) and haven't messed with upping anything else (HT, CPU-NB and RAM close to stock. 2096/2096/1396). LinX stops in error at 1m52s each of the 3 times I ran it. My temps only get to 51C.

Any advice would be great.

What ram do you have? What motherboard?

Ah, right.

Gigabyte GA-770T-USB3

Corsair CM3XG1600C9NX. I have it set to 1396 with latency on Auto in the BIOS. Usually is around 9-9-9-24 or 8-8-8-20.

Do you want CPUZ screen shots?

Ok, cool. I started tweaking with it later assuming that. got the ref clock down to 257 at 1.475 v. No more BSOD's but it still stops. Takes longer to each time so I guess that is good! I can post some screen shots once I get it more stable.

Alright,

I got a stable 10 runs on LinX with a ref. clock of 250 and CPU voltage of 1.475

Here are some screens:
400.
400400

Going to try to mess with the CPU-NB and the memory tomorrow. Any tips?

Looking good:-) How are your temprature peak when stresstesting?

OC the cpu nb actually gives quite noticable results. I would try to set the cpu nb multi at 10 and set the cpu nb voltage to 1.25 and see if its stable. If it is not then set the voltage to 1.3. But watch your temps, you could get 10 degrees celcius more when raising cpu nb and voltage on it.

If you dont get tit stable on 2500MH you might want to try a higher ref.clock and lower cpu multi.

268 x 14 = 3.75GHz
cpu nb x 9 = 2.4GHz
Ht-link x 7 = 1874 MHz

Try this if you dont get it stable whit ref.clock on 250. The cpu nb should teoretical handle as mutch voltage as the chip it self, but my understanding is that you doesnt need more than 1.25-1.35 to get a high cpu nb stable.

+1, except I'd bump that HT multi to 8x smile.gif
