I'm trying to achieve an OC with FSB: 230 and I had the CPU-NB to x9. I'm ngetting BSOD's when launching LinX with that setting. Though I tried to raise the core voltage bit by bit still getting constant BSOD's.
May be I should lower the Ram multiplier first. I'm sorry guys first time exploring OC...redface.gif

I had a quick run earlier. Mine was set to:

230 x 15 = 3.45GHz
cpu nb x 9 = 2.07GHz
DRAM Frequency = 1226 MHz
Core Voltage : 1.40V

Ran it with LinX, unfortunately It only passed the 2nd loop and ran into a BSOD before it hit the third loop. Look's like I'm making progress though thumb.gif

Any suggestions guys if I have to lower anything or should I pump up the voltage core higher?

Yes, try a bit higher. Is 1.40 the setting in BIOS or the value reported by CPUz?

I had the core voltage set under the BIOS settings. Do you think I should go 1.45V?

Yes. Also tell me what voltage does CPUz report while running LinX?

Just finished running LinX in 20 loops. Went fine with no errors or BSOD!specool.gif

CPUz reported 1.392V to 1.408V while running LinX. Looks like its stable though I think I should run it at least an hour, but I'm pretty much confident this will be stable in those frequencies.

Thanks a lot ronnin! If I have more time I'll try to push it a little higher. And I think I have to read more about the RAM timings. Still gets me confused with all the numbers on it and where to start thumb.gif

Great smile.gif Know that you're in a very good voltage zone, so if you decide on OCing higher, feel free to bump the volts as well smile.gif Until CPUz starts showing 1.55v, you're pretty much safe from overvolts. Pay close attention to temps as well, at least in the first 2-3 days. If you have a spare monitor, it's great to use it for running HWMonitor while gaming or doing whatever else you do smile.gif

Also, please add your system to your signature, it's very useful to have the info at a glance wink.gif

hi all. been a while after my last post. anywho... thanks to ronnin who helped me with constant updates on my doubts. meanwhile bought a new laptop and forgot the desktop for a while. yesterday made some alterations and after about 1 and half hour got these stable results ON STOCK COOLER [saved the new corsair liquid cooler for my new PC which is on its way biggrin.gif]

athlon ii x2 250
___________
cpu frequency : 250 x 15 = 3.75
cpu/nb frequency : 9x
cpu over voltage : 1.45v
vddnb voltage : 1.45v
mem clock value : 533
timing : 9,9,9,30,34
memory over voltage : 1.56
chipset over voltage : 1.35
temperature : 20-45 on stock cooler!

and there is always room for improvement so need suggestions.

I'm back! ronnin, i need a bit of help... I started to squeeze in more out of my athlon and this is what I've tried:

245 x 15 = 3.67 MHz
cpu nb x 8 = 1960 MGHz (is this good enough or should I raise it to x9??)
DRAM Frequency = 1305 (should I lower it or should I leave it in this range?)
Core Voltage : 1.47V (CPUz reported)

Do you think I should go up and feed more voltage? By the way, CPUz voltage and core voltage in BIOS is has different values. should I follow the voltage reported on CPUz.

I remembered it was already set to 1.50V in BIOS? Am I still in the safe range? confused.gif

What RAM was that? Unless it's Corsair Vengeance, you should be able to drop the timings to CL8, maybe smile.gif Otherwise great, my 260 required 1.55v to be stable at 3.75, at which point it easily topped 75C under load with the stock cooler.

The voltage reported by CPUz is what matters.
Also, try to bump the CPU/NB.
3.67Ghz is a nice overclock, should take care of most bottlenecks smile.gif Right now it's the CPU/NB that's holding back the performance. Raise to 9 and unleash the beast wink.gif
What exactly CPU did you have? Was it a 440?
Did you try to unlock it? smile.gif You might have a potential quad there smile.gif
