See thats what i taught but on my mobo the HT link drops when i raise the Cpu freq. its confusing me a lilttle, eg. i raise my cpu freq to 227 (200 stock) and the ht link lowers to 900mhz (1000 stock) i am totally confused as to why it does that.

are all the 'safe' oc features disabled on your mobo?
if you can keep your ht link between 1800-2200, you should be fine

Try keep the HT link as close to 2000 as possible for best results

^^What he said. I here 1900 to 2100 is the sweet spot.

I understand what you guys are saying but what i was trying to figure out was why my HT was dropping when raising cpu freq. i am testing this board seeing what makes it tick by doing the 1 step at a time procedure adjusting cpu freq. first an noticed everything was raising which was normal Except for the HT Link which was lowering. Also what is the (average) stock/default HT Link 2000mhz?

2000mhz is stock. You will probably find your motherboard is automatically adjusting the HT speed to compensate for the increased FSB.

ahh alrighty then. This board is just weird it seems that by default its underclocked everything except cpu freq, the ht link is at 1000mhz stock, voltage is 1.3 stock everything were lower by default settings,
guess thats how come i reached 3.6ghz with only minor voltage bump an no errors in linx.

It is a wierd mobo, I agree. Sorry for the late response, mate. The BIOS drops the HT multi automatically, some mobos do that, although in my experience, that's 1 of 10. I personally don't like these auto tweaks. smile.gif
Anyway, be careful with the OC, especially with the overvoltage. AsRock claim this mobo supports PhII x6, but this is not quite true. Notice the voltage regulation module, that's 2+1 power phase, which is the lowest I have seen. Usually the low-end mobos have 3+1, it's a mistery for me what AsRock were thinking marketing this mobo as x6 compatible...

I see you have the same chip as i do. Hope you reach 4ghz. Wanted to know if you could run your ram at 1700mhz with your chip? Sorry for this, don't find any people around here with x2 250's no more biggrin.gif

I have a system with an athlon II x2 245 and that struggles with ram anywhere above 1450mhz, however this is on a cheap asrock n68-s motherboard (AM2+ platform, lowers HT to 1000Mhz) .

All chips are different tho and coupled with the right motherboard you might be able to hit 1700Mhz ram... but in my experience I could not...
