OCZ Vertex 60GB - $90 w/ tax and shipping

Should I buy it? I'm worried that 60GB will run out quickly... However, if I won't be able to find another deal like this for a while then maybe I should jump on it...

It's not SATA2.. which is not really an issue because my sig rig motherboard doesn't have SATA3. But when I build my Sandy Bridge rig (in the near future?), will I be missing out on some serious advantages with SATA3?

Thanks

If it's a first gen vertex then I would say don't bother, you wanna go with teh Vertex 2

And for a system drive it's enough, I have crysis 2, portal, windows 7, portal 2 and apps installed on mine.

I use my 60GB for just my OS and its plenty enough. Ive heard bad things about the Gen 1 drives. For that price your not too far off of a newer drive

Don't get the first gen drive. It's a piece of crap.

My Callisto's perform about 10x better after being dirtied.
I have a 1st gen in my HTPC, it was pretty nice in it's day. But it's day has passed. Compared to my C300...it's sssllllooooow.

On a side note about the Vertex 2 referenced earlier. Don't touch the model with VTXE model numbers. Those are the revised 25nm nand, with crap read/write speeds and much lower capability (think longevity) of write cycles. Nearly 2/3's the lifespan of the original 32nm version.

I would not the the Indilinx controller is crap. It is just dated.

It is still better than a HDD plus it supports TRIM and ITGC.
Once again...

It's crap.

Yes, better than a HDD, but for $90? No way! I might buy one for $30, but that's about the max I'd pay...

Does that mean I should sell my vertex and upgrade? If so to what?

Are you talking about the first 25nm Vertex 2 that OCZ tried to slip by people, or the revised 25nm version that they made after review sites tore into them?

I was under the impression that all the VTXE drives on the market now are the fixed 25nm versions, with a 32Gb die size and all 16 channels filled. With 16 channels filled the read/write speeds should be on par with the original Vertex 2. That leaves the decreased life span of 25nm NAND as the only issue, which is not exclusive to The Vertex 2. 25nm NAND is here to stay and all new drives use it.
