Which is better for gaming, Denon AH-D2000, Ultrasone PRO 900 or Ultrasone PRO 2900?

Wow, some expensive headphones you listed there. Not really sure since I haven't tried any of them in gaming, not to mention I haven't tried either of the Ultrasones period. You might want to ask Scytus for his opinions on the Pro 900. The 2900 is an open headphone.

I'm not very good at describing sound so I probably shouldn't even try. I just have the Pro 900's and love them so I thought I'd respond to this and throw my 2 cents in anyway.

The pro 2900 is open so I didn't pay it a whole lot of attention when I was looking for headphones. Honestly the Ultrasone lineup brings alot to the table but if I was looking for an open can I'd look elsewhere.

AH-D2000 vs Pro 900 seems to be an endless debate. Some people just prefer one sound over another. There have been some questions of build quality regarding the Denon's where the Pro 900's are simply top notch in that regard. Listen to them both if you can and decide for yourself which you like better.

Contrary to what has been said the Pro 900's do not need to be amped. Like most headphones they can benefit from an amp. They don't have to be though, they sound quite amazing straight off my soundcard ( Titanium HD ).

For gaming I like them. Great soundstage considering they are closed. The bass hits hard but it doesn't have any of that boomy overrun drowning out the mids that can be detrimental in games.

To me the Pro 900's only have 1 flaw. The cord. They come with 2 a coiled cord which is still in the plastic wrapper because I hate coiled cords and a straight cord that is about 2 feet shorter than I wish it was. Won't be a problem once I have a desktop amp but it's a bit of a pain at the moment.

To be quite honest... For just gaming they are a complete waste, just overkill. Listening to music straight from the CD, FLAC, watching movies straight from the DVD or Blue Ray and I love them. Their potential goes to waste on gaming alone though. For mostly gaming I'd be looking at the HiFi 580 or HiFi 780, JMHO.

The d7000 has an excellent soundstage for a closed phone. Haven't heard the pro 900 but I've heard that the slogic technology the headphone includes is supposed to help it in that regard. Don't quote me on that so you may want to read up on that.
