RAM Suggestions?

Hey lads,

Im planning on upgrading the ram in my sig rig today, I've been looking around and all i can seem to find thats within the limits of my board is overpriced stuff as slow as the stuff i've got at the moment.

Was wondering if any of you ram heads could maybe gimme a ref for the best ram i could get for my board please? preferably 2x4gb or 3x2gb

Bearing in mind im not in the states, so newegg is out of the question, and i don't think il upgrade my board in this for the moment.
Thanks alot for any input, its appreciated.

They dont make a 3x2gb set of DDR2 and you want a set of 2, or 4 so you can run dual channel.

What do you have to choose from?

Firstly, you need dual channel ram (ie. 2 x 2GB or 2 x 4GB kit)

Second, what is your budget?

I could recommend you ram that spans a huge variety of price ranges

What are you looking to upgrade for?

You should go with dual channel if your platform is dual channel (I think it is). This means two or four modules.

If you need DDR2, that's why it's overpriced. 800MHz and 1066MHz was generally the top common speeds. If you're looking at kits with 1066MHz or greater and 4GB modules, for DDR2, yeah, it'll probably be more expensive than it's worth.

See this is why i double check here 1st

I guess its 4x2 then, as don't think id like to downsize by 2 gigs tbf, i don't plan on keeping any of the older modules left in it, if i can find faster stuff, Thanks for the quick reply, +1 to all for spotting my blonde moment.

budget: aprox €70, which is roughly $100

Does OCUk ship to Ireland?

4GB DDR2-1066 Kingston Hyper RAM (70 quid though which is 80 EUR): http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...d=8&subcat=817

EDIT: Ebuyer.com has some DDR2-1066 available for 60 quid.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/148859
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/159196

Both are Kingston 4GB DDR2-1066 at 5-5-5-15. Only difference from the specs they list is the heat sinks (and the RAM height).

I second the HyperX stuff. 5-5-5-15-1t @ 2.2v for me

What is your current setup - I see 6gigs, but what is the layout. If you are running 3x2, try taking out the third stick and seeing how it runs (with three sticks, you are running single channel and will see a significant increase in speed going to dual channel).

As far as speed goes, AMD prefers tight timing to overall MHz. You are already at 5-6-6, so not going to see a noticable increase in speed going to 5-5-5.
It's so little!
