[ame="http://www.amazon.com/OCZ-Technology-Vertex-2-5-Inch-OCZSSD2-2VTXE90G/dp/B003WT4XYK"]Vertex 2 90GB SSD $169+FS from Amazon[/ame]

Just the right size IMO. (as long as you don't go game install crazy)
(As sata 3gbs drives go, it's in the top 3 as far as OS boot speed)

You'll love it.

Just watch out for the OCZ drives. I have read the Extended edition ones (note the "E" in the model number) are the 25nm NAND drives and they are a lot slower than the 34nm drives. OCZ has kept the same model numbers on other drives also and some people don't realize that they are getting a slower drive until they get it. I think the only 25nm drives that keep the speeds are the Vertex 3 drives because they use Sandforce 2xxx version that is built for 25nm use. Just check out the OCZ forums...a lot of people upset over this.

I am looking in to a SSD also and was going to get a OCZ, but probably not now beings I cannot afford a Vertex 3.

I'm in the market for an SSD. However, there are quite a bit of them on the market and it's becoming quite confusing to me.

I plan on having Windows 7 and maybe the game I'm playing the most at the time on the SSD.
My 300GB Velociraptor holding other games and data - essentially being my storage drive.
I figure I don't need a large capacity SSD, but I'm not sure what would be a good capacity to aim for.

What can you guys recommend?

Thank you all for your replies so far!
I'm debating between the following:

64GB Crucial C300
$124.99 after Promo Code

60GB OCZ Vertex 2
$84.99 after Promo Code and MIR

Both seem to have their own respective issues, with the C300's main fault being the slow write speeds.
The price of the Vertex 2 is pretty enticing, but all the issues I've heard about it are a bit of a turn off.

Just remember that the OCZ one you have linked is the 25nm NAND drive (according to multiple reviews on Newegg) so it will not perform to the specs that you see on Newegg. It will be slower. Not sure how much that means to you, but wanted to make sure you know. A lot of people on OCN really like the C300 drives. I would get one of those myself, but just waiting on a good deal for something because I know some of the good drives have been on sale before cheaper than what they are now.

A Vertex2 for $80 I dont see an issue just buy it lol. I wish I kept mine over the c300 I now have, FW 0006 rubbish, fast deteriorating speeds, slow installing, 3 times longer than my Vertex2 64GB was doing Avast scan, longer boot times, stuttering, FW 0007 has made these issues worse.

The Vertex 2,s Ive had were probably 25nand too as they wre relatively new stock, no way to tell unless you open drive thus voiding warranty. They are great drives.

Ive now been doing a lot of reading up on the new drives and it looks a toss up between the Vertex3 120 and Crucial c400 128gb the former wins hands down in a lot of things, but the latter seems to pip it on random reads/writes but the garbage collection seems not that good on it. But it a lot less money in UK £170 opposed to £214 for the Vertex3, I thought the skimping on nand was supposed tokeep price down! WHERE!

I use a 64GB Crucial C300 and I have plenty of space left as Windows 7 X64 SP1 only takes up 12GB of space and thats with other software installed on it,

I only ever have one Game installed at a time as I can only play one game at a time !!

Anything over 64GB should be good but then that depends on your budget and the SSD your getting aswell.

Anything that has Sandforce controller on it, but be cautious about OCZ 25nm architecture.
