nevermind my last, looks like they only developed that for a certain chip, and ASUS bought that chip and that with it, so its imbedded in the drivers for their card... i will try and see later what ALchemy does when i try it. what games do you have that you want to keep EAX effects in?
I had an X-fi. Just install ALchemy and OpenAL. ALchemy just converts EAX (DirectSound) instructions into OpenAL. OpenAL is run off the CPU.

Games like Civilization IV worked with EAX 2/3/4/5.

I juset got weird pops and no sound (not games) fairly often on Creative Drivers with the X-fi. No problems with an Audigy 2 though on Win 7.

shouldnt be any need to install OpenAL, its part of windows, and i just checked Creative's list of games that ALchemy works with, Civilization IV is not currently on it, which is a good sign ;D

I got some questions about windows 7 + tweak. Should I make a new thread for that, or just say it here?

1) What tweaks is recommended in windows 7, so your pc gets most highest performance and stuff like that?
I know 3 tweaks myself. Are they recommended to perform, or do you know others?

2) Is there still such a thing called paging file/virtual memory in windows 7? if yes, what to set it on?

Tweak one:
-Click on the Start Button and key in Device Manager and hit Enter.
-Expand Disk Drives.
-Right click on your hard drive and select Properties.
-On the Policies tab:
Windows 7: Check Turn off Windows write-cache buffer flushing on the device.
-Hit OK and close Device Manager.

Tweak two (remove unused fonts in windows7):
-Open control panel
-Open fonts folder
-Do backup of all my fonts
-After taken abckup of all my fonts, delete those fonts I dont use daily.

Tweak three (Disable Windows 7 Indexing)
-Click on “start” and enter “services.msc”.
-Search through the list until you find “Windows Search”.
-Doube-click on “Windows Search” and from the dropdown field select startup type: “Disabled”.
-Stop the service.

Now to my AHCI issue

How do I get my single HDD, to run in ACHI mode? I never figured it out. So ive just had it run in IDE mode the whole time.
I once tryed to enable AHCI in bios, but that resulted in a BSOD lol

Acording to my motherboard manual, these settings here, have someting to do with AHCI:

"PCH SATA mode: IDE/RAID(XHD)/AHCI"

"eSATA Ctrl Mode: IDE/AHCI"

But like I said above, it resulted in a BSOD when both set to AHCI. Dont know what I did wrong.

1. i haven't really needed to tweak anything other than PF
2. Yes there is page file. on my system i keep it on one of my secondary drives, and because i have 9GB of ram i keep the PF limited in size to 750-1000MB.

as far as your other tweaks, i don't see the first two improving performance at all. the last one might.

And for AHCI, there is a string in the registry that you need to change before the computer will boot under AHCI. the other way would have been to set AHCI before windows was first installed. i'm not sure what the registry string is but i think i saw it in one of the stickied SSD setup threads.....

Is there any performance increase to run AHCI mode insteaf of IDE mode?
The "AHCI getting to work" sounds a pain in my head to get it worked correctly.

I have 4gb of memory. My hdd is splitted into 3 drives. 1 for OS + installed programs, 1 for backup and other ****, and the last for steam folder and the game it comes with.

So what should I set it too? And which drive to have it activated on? Just the one with OS + installed programs?

You can try this to enable AHCI: http://www.ithinkdiff.com/how-to-ena...-installation/
and i would set your PF to the second drive...

Edit: if your are still on WinXP64 AHCI WILL NOT WORK. AHCI is only supported In windows Vista and 7
