Should I Upgrade?

Thread Starter
So here's the deal, I currently have Crossfired HD4870 (512mb). I was wondering if I should upgrade now to something new? My current setup runs everything I play pretty well except for Oblivion (all modded to hell) (I think it has to do with my 512mb VRAM).

I have been looking at the HD6950 and being able to unlock it or the 560 Ti or even the HD6970 or 570. My budget is somewhere around $250-$300 CAD and I game at 1680x1050.

1. What would be the best bang for my buck In Canada?
2. Would I see a noticeable improvement?
3. Will I be bottlenecked by my current rig?
4. Do you guys think a graphics card should even be my next upgrade?

I've been looking at some of the cards listed aswell, but I always keep coming back to the fact that I don't need to upgrade. Sure my card is a little dated, but out of all the games I play, the only one I can't max out is crysis and I rarely play that anymore. However, if you're not satisfied with performance obviously you should look intO an upgrade. I would go with a 6950, or if you wanna spend the extra cash, the 6970. Both have great performance for their price. I'd go with 6950 though, you could always add another one if it isn't enough. Or you could unlock to a 6970, though I don't know much about that.

I'll second the 6950. Best bang for the buck on the market. You could always upgrade later.

However, if you have 2 spare PCI-E slots you could grab 2 6850s and perform similar to the edit: GTX470 sli in games that support crossfire? I might be wrong on performance numbers though. Great cards to overclock by my understanding.

2 of them will meet your budget.

Being a nvidia fan I suppose I am biased in saying you should go for the gtx 570. Or SLI lower grades

Thanks guys. I'm leaning towards a single card rather than sli/xfire right now.
The GTX570 is at the high end of my my budget (the cheapest on newegg.ca is $320).
I also like how the HD6950 and HD6970 have 2gb. How much better is the 570 than an unlocked HD6950?

I can't find any for $200. Can recommend me one that can unlock?
