You exclude the iPod because its price is the same as the Zune, so you're essentially saying the iPhone is way more than Android phones, which just isn't true.

There are lower-end droid phones, but they don't have the same hardware and don't run as well as the examples constantly used by the droid camp.

As far as hardware goes, the only thing that matters is if the user experience is fast and lag free. If it is, it doesn't matter whatsoever if the phone had a 30 core processor running at 7ghz. It's like saying a game running at 400 fps is somehow better than a game running at 100 fps. It makes absolutely no difference.

The only way it would matter is if you plan on having the same phone for 5 years and want to future-proof the hell out of it. Even then, I'm not seeing any indication that the latest generation of phones won't be able to run whatever OS and whatever is running on them 5 years from now. We're getting to the point finally with phones like where we are with computers where hardware a gen or more old can quite easily run the latest games with ease. There's enough headroom to allow for that.

Aside from that, though, I'd say the vast majority of people buying a smart phone won't even have the same phone for that long.

Yeah, I got my phone barely a few months ago, but I'm already looking at a new one. Its crazy, these things are like crack, except you can install more crack on them so you get super crack, but then you gain a tolerance and have to buy more.

I dont like Apple for multiple reasons- Their marketing scheme that has people following Apple/Steve Jobs to the point of if they released an ipad 3 and the only difference was they added a micro sd card slot, everyone would buy it. Ill admit, Apple can sell people on something; it must be that glowing/mirror Apple on the products.
Secondly, it seems people dont care of hardware inside a mac/macbook/iphone but care more that its an Apple. It appears to be a trend or a fad if you will. What baffles me is how the hardware in a Mac is easily half a year behind (or more) and yet is still more expensive than a PC that has faster hardware.

Ive owned ipod touches before I had a phone. I loved the touch and jailbroke it and all. I have an EVO, why? Android has a lot of functions iphones dont have stock (themes). The evo had the functionality, the cpu power and storage I needed, a larger screen. Not to mention, Sprint which is far cheaper than AT&T with an unlimited data plan.

In my experience, those who own a Mac or iphone and love Apple, dont quite know what theyre talking about and only know what Apple says about the device. These people dont need to necessarily "research" about a a phone or computer to see which has a faster cpu, screen resolution, etc. Android or PC users research about every possible choice and weight pros and cons of other android devices, then they decide on which phone- which makes them feel superior as they know the inside and outs of the iphone and all the android devices.

I personally feel that Apple has a iphone in mind for 5 years from now. But they only implement small features each time to work up to that final design. Either way, I wont buy a Mac.. and wont buy an iphone. I want to be different from people (go into a college library/computer center/study place and youll see majority of people owning iphones/macs). Im in college and want to be set apart from others. You dont see many people with an Evo I like that.

Maybe people don't want to research processor speeds, resolutions, RAM etc... maybe they had a Mac, were really happy with it and therefore bought a new one.

If i'm happy with a product, I will go and repeat purchase.

Likewise, don't get me wrong I love my iPhone, but I've played around with my friends' android phones, and I must say I liked the OS a bit more.

All in all there's always going to be fanboys hating on their product's competitor.

I like iphones and android.
I own a HTC EVO because I like over/under clocking it and like the freedom that rooting it gives me.
Rooted Android HTC EVO > iPhone

But I dont have robots pissing on apples images just like I dont have calvin pissing on Ford logos.

Well, at least their computers aren't that half-bad. They can actually do gaming.

And add to the fact that it's more of a niche, high-end brand that a majority of the population don't buy. It's unlike the Mac where it easily attracts consumers - usually based on brand prestige and aesthetics.
