HAF X: top mount 200mm fan question

Thread Starter
Unfortunately, I'm looking to replace my horizontal top-mount 200mm exhaust fan. It only took 2 days for the sleeve bearing to fail, consequently producing a terrible, ear piercing noise.

My question: Since all CM replacement fans are sleeve bearing, what should I do? I've heard sleeve bearings are not quite optimal for horizontal mounting, yet this is all CM offers for 200mm design. Is there an alternative?

Could the stock sleeve bearing fan in my new case been bad to begin with? I've read several reviews from newegg users mounting 200mm sleeve fans horizontally to the HAF X....

I would suggest e mailing them to see if they would RMA it for you since those fans aren't exactly cheap. I do not think they would put a fan in the top of it would would fail that fast. I haven't seen to many with the same issue so maybe the fan was bad just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the response. I guess the published information about sleeved fans not performing well while mounted horizontally is exaggerated?
