Can I swap boards during RMA

post #1 of 10
Thread Starter
I am filing an RMA for my ASUS Sabertooth P67 board, i have concluded that the board is bad and is causing random freezes time to time that last 10-15 sec. The system does go back to normal after that but i can not live with random freezes. I have tried everything. So can i swap this board for a different model, or possibly a Z68 board? Its almost May, Z68 boards are about to be released.

Im doubtful. When you RMA they will give you the same card or its equivalent

As far as i know Asus will not change out boards for a different model. Nor will they issue a refund on your product. About your best bet would be to place it in the forums for a quick sale. And then put that towards the board you like to get.
post #4 of 10
if your RMA to newegg for a refund then yea, but you have to be working with a company with a step up program, and asus doesn't have one. I have never heard of a mobo step up program tho, if they let anyone who wanted to switch boards switch because they wanted to then half of us would never buy new boards.

Yes, z68 boards are due out - but with a huge backstock of P67 you will certainly not be getting one for free.

Why would Asus upgrade you to Z68 for free?

Sent from my HTC Desire Z using Tapatalk.

Depends whether you see Z68 as an upgrade.

I certainly don't.

In regards to the Sabertooth being bad in general - I know several people who are very happy with theirs. That's B2 and B3.

This.

I swapped my PRO for the Sabertooth and had no problems at all. Got exactly the same overclock and no freezes like op says. The freezes could be down to anything or he has just been unlucky and got a dodgy board.

@mikeseth
did you setup your memory timings in the bios?
My Sabertooth P67 was also unstable until I got the ram settings in correctly and updated the bios.

Now this is a rock stable beast. no issues at all.
