Bitcoin General Thread

Who wants to talk about Bitcoin since the other thread has been closed due to trolls or whatever reason? Nothing else to do anyways.

Old thread with lots of info.
http://www.overclock.net/other-software/1001123-earn-your-gpu-bitcoin-mining-guide.html

Just to get the topic going, i'm running a 5870 at 995MHz Core, 1300MHz memory using phoenix with slush's pool and getting ~4BTC/day (maybe a bit more) @ 409Mhas/s.

If this keeps going well I might invest in a second 5870. I have a 750W corsair PSU, think that's enough for 2 5870's, an i7 at 3.8GHz and an otherwise average system?

Not to be rude bot this thread will be shut down. The other thread was closed due to the upper managment planning on investagating bitcoins. THey are doing that becasue of the legal gray zone they are in. It will never be able to tell what will happen with them until some type of trial is held for the most part. Or if the goverment admits it is legal. I think it should be legal but that is not everyones opinion.

Definitely not a good idea to do an end-run around a closed thread.

Also, I'd strongly encourage you to not buy any hardware just for bitcoin. The difficulty just jumped almost 19%, so your 4BTC/day figure is no longer valid. The next difficulty jump could be even bigger, so don't plan on paying off anything long term with bitcoin income.

They didn't say why it was closed. All I saw was crap about trolls.

I was only contemplating it. I don't see any legal issues anyways. If someone wants to talk about calculating hashes with their GPU for an online currency that isn't violating any laws....

Neither is building a PC with a legal OS X operating system... but that talk isnt allowed here either. The rules of the forum are not based on laws, but on the rules of the forum...

Wrong. If you bothered going to the very end of the thread you'd have seen this:
