Quality of the ASUS VE278Q

Thread Starter
I have the ASUS VW246H right now, and besides the obvious size difference. I was wondering if the VE278Q had any "advantages". ASUS lists the contrast ratio as 10 million to 20 thousand for the VE278 v VW246 respectively. I thought manufacturers typically used a standard within their own manufacturing but not this time I guess. Anyone care to shed any light on this?

If you're wondering why I'm considering buying the ASUS VE278Q, it's because I'm moving this summer and I'm mostly likely going to be selling off everything except my headphones and speakers.

I'm also interested in the ASUS ML239H since I've been hearing mostly praise for IPS panels. How does it compare to the Dell U2311H? I've heard it's the same panel, so why the huge gap in price?

I recently purchased a VE278Q and its not a bad monitor. But I wouldn't recommend it over a smaller IPS monitor.

Static contrast ratio is what you really want to look at. Dynamic contrast ratio is what manufacturers usually advertise. I tend to ignore manufacturer claimed contrast ratios because who knows how they come up with those numbers.

The VE278Q won't have any advantages over the VW246 other than a larger screen area. Also the VE278Q has a larger pixel pitch and it is noticeable since they're both 1080 resolution monitors. Difference in dynamic contrast ratio is meaningless.

I will definitely go with a IPS monitor next time. The ASUS is probably cheaper because its not as well known brand as Dell. Also Dell probably buys a larger quantity of panels from LG than Asus.

e-ips or uh-ps now is only 23" maximus size and is too small text

Too small to text? Read text? Honestly, I think I'm kinda interested in the VE278Q just for its size. If the contrast ratio isn't worse than my current monitor it's definitely at the top of my list unless I have a change of heart.

If size is your priority then the VE278Q is right for you. Here's a review.

you cant compare IPS 22-23" vs a TN 27", IPS monitor is best but have an aggressive AG coating and is difficoult to text reading and cause eyestrain naturally because LG is a ridicolous productor of panels ! And IPS panels are all made by LG or LG&Philips.

I have an IPS, and the color and pictures quality is ok but cause eye doctor visits and impossible to web browsing ( max 30min ).

Hmm, why does AG coating cause eye strain? I'm not really comparing them. I'm just weighing my options I suppose. I just wanted to know a bit more about IPS choices too.

Aggressive ag coating used is different model by model of LG IPS panel.
The Ag coating of Dell U2410 is different than coating of U3011 or U2311h.

If you want a IPS, u dont buy a E-IPS o UH-IPS, this is economic IPS, RIDICOLOUS !
have 6bit colors like TN, same ! better tonality and elettronic but a very good TN is comparable.
