Is this PSU/Motherboard good enough for 8800GT SLI?

It will be GREATLY appreciated if I receive answers in a 1) 2) 3) format. Thanks in advance to everyone who replies that way! Additional comments, tidbits, opinions, etc are also great.

First:
1) Is this PSU enough to 8800GT SLI?

VisionTek 900346 500W PSU

Specs:
12V1:20A
12V2:20A
12V rails combine for 348 watts.
2 PCIe connectors

Link:
http://visiontek.com/products/pc-components/power-supplies/500w-power-supply.html

2) Is VisionTek a pretty reputable/reliable PSU company?

3) Will this motherboard support 8800GT SLI?

Motherboard:
Abit KN9 SLI

Link for Specs (I don't know what specs to look for on motherboards besides dual PCIe x16 slots):
http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php?pMODEL_NAME=KN9+SLI&fMTYPE=Socket%20AM2

4) It says it is Nvidia NF 570 SLI. What does that 570 mean?

I know this isn't the best motherboard out there, but my current budget is only $100, so I can only afford a PSU and CPU (AM2) upgrade, and my current mobo only supports up to AM2.

Personally I would say yes even though you should not take my word for it. That wattage assuming it's a decent psu would be enough.

However I would advise saving up until you can get off that processor and motherboard (and RAM). Possibly by building a whole new computer. You seem to have one of the older/worse computers on the forums, and spending money to 'upgrade' really doesn't seem worthwhile to me. Especially since you're on vista (O.o)

Also Nvidia 570 SLI would probably mean that it's okay to crossfire 570's or something (570 is one of the better graphics cards out).

What does that chipset indicate? Does it limit what I can put on the board? Is it an older/slower tech?

your cpu would bottleneck your gpus, if it doesnt already.

build a new computer bud, another gpu in sli wont give you a signifigant performance upgrade unless your cpu can match.

Yep will work fine.

570 is the chipset:
http://www.nvidia.com/page/nforce5_amd.html

Currently AMD uses the 9xx series NF chipset for SLI.

This. Save up a bit and upgrade everything. Dual core processor is enough for gaming, look for about 4 gigs of reasonably fast ram, and you'll be better off replacing the 8800 with a newer card than trying to run it SLI. You can sell the card you have now for some cash, or just throw the whole system on craigslist for $200 or so and start from there.

I would completely agree with you, except that I want to start recording videos (now) using fraps on a game that doesn't really require too much (with my current system, I still get 50-60FPS on max settings and 1/2 that when recording). I can't afford it now, but I ultimately want to build an fully overclocked AMD x4 4GHz+/460GTX SLI/DDR3/custom watercool system. I've learned from members that I should just get a PSU that would cover that, but I looked at the prices for those PSUs and most of the good ones were over $100 itself, and I can't afford that right now.

I decided that I'm just gonna upgrade this one as far as I can, and just keep it as it is or give it to a friend. Then, I can build a system that won't be called "older/worse" haha (I completely agree smile.gif ). I was just researching simple upgrades to accomplish my fraps recording, but I came across this site and I'm hooked. I feel like this will be my practice run to get familiar with components, methods, and other knowledge about OCing.
