Improving cooling of Lian Li v1010

Hi!

My CPU was priming at 59ºC, so here's what I did to lower that to 45ºC. I hope it might be useful to somebody and maybe I can get a few tips from you .

The case was as the stock configuration: a yate loon 120mm as exhaust fan, with grill and dust filter, and a yate loon 140mm as intake fan, with a dust filter. The CPU was cooled with a TRUE using an old (7+ years old) antec 120mm led fan (about 75cfm, at least 2.00mmH2o SP). I was using that fan in the meantime until the San Ace I ordered arrived. Oh, I almost forgot it, I added a 3rd fan (YL 120) mounted on the side vertical bar to cool the RAM.

Temp running prime95 usually rose to 58-59ºC, but got down to 48º if I left the case open. I removed the exhaust fan and installed a Tacens Ventus II (silent, low SP, nice air flow), without the dust filter, just a round grill I bought (what's the point of using a dust filter in an exhaust fan anyway?). That lowered the temp to 52º.

Last week the San Ace arrived. With that fan, case opened, temp never went beyond 44ºC, but still reached 49, so I still had to deal with the case air flow issue. Note that I'm using q-fan (performance mode) to adjust the cpu fan speed, the CPU temp might be even lower with q-fan off, but I want to keep noise as low as possible.

This is what I tried:
  1. Improved cable management and moved the HDDs to the lower slots. That didn't really help a lot. Here's the result:
  2. Added another 120mm fan in the 5.25 drive bays. This time, a Scythe Slipstream 120 (1200rpm, 68cfm).
I used zip ties to hold the fan in place.
I might buy the Lian Li BZ-502 frontal, but it's too expensive and I don't want the fan it comes with. I hate my Scythe fan because it uses sleeve bearings, but the old antec is too noisy. It's now running at full speed, and CPU temp is now 46º !

Finally, if you have a look at this pic:

you'll see that there is an air intake (blue rectangle) in the rear of the case. I'd like to change that, so that the upper section of the case has positive pressure just like the lower section. I'm thinking of buying 2 silverstone air penetrators (AP-121 and AP-141) to replace the scythe and the yate loon 140mm.
