H50 installation

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I bought a 3 month old H50 off of ebay and it arrived this morning. I was very excited about getting this thing installed, but when I opened the box I noticed straight away that one or two pieces were missing. The plastic bushings and screws for the AMD assembly, but more importantly the intel backplate.

This is for my sig rig, so my question is, is it possible to install this without the backplate? I've contacted the buyer obviously, but I'm desperate to install this and I'll have to wait until next weekend if I don't do it this weekend.

Any help is appreciated!

The Rasa 240 kit comes without amd backplate which is why refuse to get one, As long as you have decent washers at back cant see any more probs then a Rasa, the plastic bits on the front mount that screws go into only push up against mobo they dont slot onto any backplate..The biggest problem will be the H50 screws wont be long enough to go through and you wont have any nuts to go into

It's the intel backplate I need. From what I can see from the corsair installation guide video, those things I called the screws for AMD sockets are actually metal inserts which go into the backplate (intel and amd) for the frontside to screw into.

Sorry if I seem dumb about this, first time I'm having to deal with backplates, so I don't want to make any mistakes. How would I go about it without the backplate?

I think you will have a job withouht plate, I have one here you could have just cover postage but im in uK but if you get stuck. Maybe ask on the H50 Mod thread if anyone has one going? They only come with the Amd and Intel kit but only one set of screws for whichever you install, there are no inserts for back just plastic thing. the front thing is metal that has 4 plugs that go in that and screws go through that to backplate thing

You can get it from Corsair http://www.corsair.com/cooling/cooling-accessories.html

I'm pretty inexperienced with particular things like this. I've only did basic PC building and troubleshooting in the past, and I'm wary about damaging my motherboard. So you think it's not wise for me to do anything without the backplate then?

I'm also in UK btw.

Ok, I'll send you a PM

Edit: I'm scratching my head here and realising that I'll still need those silver inserts for the backplate. You can see them in this video here: http://blog.corsair.com/?p=970

He puts them into the backplate for the screws on the bracket on the frontside to screw into. You will be using them already for your backplate, so even if you send me your spare intel backplate I'm still missing them.

I followed the link to the corsair website too, its out of stock and no shops in UK for it ~.~
