New SB Gaming PC - Is something wrong?

So I built myself a new Sandy Bridge gaming PC (first time building) and everything seems to be fine except sometimes it seems to be a little slower than it should be (like sometimes an application goes Not Responding while theres like 6GB RAM free). This is my rig:

MSI P67A-GD65 Board
2x4 GB Kingston 1333MHz RAM (KVR1333D3N9K2/8G)
Asus 5850 Video card
Intel i5 2500k processor
WD 750GB Caviar Black HDD

Here's also CPU-Z pics if they help (without running any games, just firefox and other normal applications open):

Is this slowdown application specific or does it affect everything?

Application specific may point to a driver or software issue, everything points more towards a RAM issue.

1 good thing to do if you haven't already is to grab memtest86
http://www.memtest86.com/
and run that for at leas 8 passes. It's not a windows run program, you need to make a bootable usb or cd/dvd.

You should also make sure all drivers are up to date.

From your specs the only thing i i can think of that could possibly be causing a delay is your hdd drive, I opted for an small ssd drive for windows and everything opens instantly so i would highly recommend one to anyone.

I doubt very much it's your memory
