2x 64gb C300(raid 0) Vs 1x 128gb C300

Hello all,

Thanx in advance for any informative/helpful posts!

Firstly, i just like to say, that im from Australia, and a 64gb C300 is $150 as opposed to a 128gb C300 which is $300.
The only diffences in the spec sheets for the two drives that i have gleaned from the website are as follows:
The 128gb drive has;

~ an increase of 65MB/sec in sequential reads
~ an increase of 15,000 IOPS in random 4k writes

Now, will RAIDing 2x 64gb drives increase performance over a single 128gb drive, and if so, will the increases be marginal or minimal?

Cheers,

Ishi

Edit: I should also state that either setup will effectively be an OS Boot drive, with the exception of a few games for an increase in loading times and such.

For an OS drive the increase in performance of a RAID array would be minimal to not noticeable in every day use, but you would lose TRIM.

I suggest getting the 128GB drive.

The 128GB version would serve you better in the long run.
RAIDing two 64GB drives would mainly give you better sequential speed.
Random performance doesn't really improve.
Like others have mentioned, you would lose TRIM in RAID.

So +1 for the 128GB version.
