GPU overheating?

Thread Starter
The monitor shuts down (No signal) randomly after gaming for some time, and I have to force the computer to shut down.

I have tried running the OCCT GPU test a bunch of times, but after some seconds of starting it the GPU temperature reaches the 80 ºC (or more) and then the monitor shuts down.

I have no idea why is it doing this, it's been working well (more or less) until now.

It's a good idea to list your system in your bio profile. Helps sometimes to see the big picture.

I can see your running an AMD Athlon 4600+ with GeForce 9800 GT, what type of power supply do you have and how many watts?

When you game is your card working? What games do you play if any? Just to ge an idea how much stress your card gets under gaming. Under normal circumstances is your system running ok?

OCCT is heavy stress during testing and it could just be a few things. It's too much for your GPU, CPU or PSU and / or they are on their way out.

It looks like it's happening about 2 mins into the test.

Done.

The card is working of course. A lot of different games, but mainly, Valve's games. Yes.

Also, I've tried the GPU test again and it didn't turn my monitor off (This time it went up to 85 ºC), but then I tried doing another one and it shut my monitor off again.
