Even so, Photoshop doesn't play nicey-nice with IG.

I think the reason photoshop likes dedicated cards is because it's not optimized to do rendering via the CPU. It needs RAM for history states and layers, and video power for rendering.

please explain why it cant work from a CPU?

They will be editing photo's like removing red eye, maybe sharpening ect, not creating textures for the latest games ect. So why cant a CPU handle this?

I don't know why, but it just can't. Like I said I have a friend who does basically what you'r friend's parents do; very minor photo cleaning.

Even so, he could barely stand to work with it until he got himself a dedicated video adapter. He only spent $35, but the fact he had a dedicated card made photoshop that much happier.
