waterproof=no [they are water resistant, but not waterproof], hardcore specs=no [mine has a Core Duo U2400@1.06GHz
]. i bought mine used for under 500. so if i can afford a "netbook" sized computer that can be used in the rain, snow, mud, sand, and can also be thrown, run over with a car, dropped from about 6', used in extreme heat and cold [without any type of fans on board], why would i even consider something that costs about the same but can't really do any of that neat stuff?
i don't need to worry about it getting scratched because the case is magnesium alloy [which also acts is one big heatsink], or worry about my daughter drooling on it or smacking the screen with a toy.

read my above post. there are many reasons to get a toughbook [used of course, unless you have around $5000 for a new one]
