Hello,

I'm buying a new reasonably high end PC and this is the last chance I really have to make amendments etc before lots of money disappears from my bank

so, any suggestions? I don't promise to take them, but I'm open to ideas =)

looking for practical suggestions, not nvidia vs ati arguments etc

Also, can anybody confirm for certain 850W PSU will cope with the i7 & SLI?

Buy Sandybridge 1155 CPU and motherboard. If you plan to overclock also buy a better aftermarket CPU cooler, like the Silver Arrow or the NH D14.

An 850W PSU will be fine.

Looks good, but "good resonably high end" means at least GTX 580 or 2x GTX560Ti for me

I would go with a 1155 motherboard and 2500k cpu setup

Switch the HD to an F3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231428 Better drive and its actually less money.

Get a 2500K If you live close to a Microcenter, that's the best price you will find, but the Egg is decently priced as well. Get a P67 mobo and you'll be in good shape. Nothing wrong with the 960, but why not step up to SB instead? The 2500k is the best you're going to do in terms of price/performance.
