[KTK] PlayStation Network Attack Now Has the Attention of U.S. Homeland Security - Page 3

Only reason I didn't get a PS3 was the removal of backwards-compatability, as I'd only seen problems with the first-generation and wanted to stay away from that. Interesting trade-off. Get a die shrink, lose what made the PS3 so user-friendly. OtherOS, Blu-ray, Bluetooth, PS2 compatability. I wish Sony kept all those, with EVERY revision.

The problem with the PS3 getting jailbroken is the CPU has a loop in it, that would require all PS3s to be recalled, and hackers could keep them, and if they turn off old PS3s, they'd fail SO HARD in business.

I think the main reason why someone even targeted Sony is because of the lawsuits.

This is where they REALLY ****ed themselves.

I have my PS3 jailbroken. I will CONTINUE to jailbreak it with EVERY firmware. Why? Cause the other OS feature is advertised on my PS3's BOX. I paid for the right to use it. They can ban me, I really don't give a poo. I don't play on their crap network anyway, and only play exclusive games on the PS3 IN SINGLE PLAYER (Metal Gear, Killzone, Resistance). If I want to play online, I'll use an infrastructure that knows what its doing, ala: XBL or...PC!

Bottom line: Sony deserves EVERYTHING they got in terms of shattering their very reputation in the publics eye. Albeit, I do feel bad for PSN users.
Seriously, what percentage of console gamers do you think even knew the PS3 had Other OS, or that the PS3 was jailbroken at one point, or even care all that much about the PSN issues?

The average consumer doesn't know or really care about games, consoles, hardware, or gaming news as much as the crowd on OCN.

Gotta love these multiple Sony threads where people repeat and argue the same points over and over again.

1. I really doubt they "got word". They probably picked a target and found a way. No doubt they had a reason for picking PSN rather than, say, XBL.
2. Nobody encrypts personal information. Only financial information.
Anonymous hacked PSN before this, did they not? You act like they randomly decided to attack one of the largest corporations in the world.. That seems ignorant.

And nobody encrypts personal info? Apparently Israeli IT is ass backwards lol... Where I work personal information is encrypted and protected..

I'm just glad Janet Napolitano is on the job. In case you didn't know she has secured the US southern border. She can do anything.
