Crossfiring 6950 x2 on MSI P67A-G43?

I am wondering how well I could crossfire 2 unlocked 6950s on this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130583

It says crossfire is enabled, but I'm wondering if there is anything that would impede crossfire performance. My friend says the fact that one PCI slot is 16x and one is 8x would cause significant slowdown, but I don't think that sounds accurate. Also, would I experience any bottlenecking with my CPU (i5 2500k)?

The difference between x16 and x8 performance for a single card is around ~1-2%. Dropping down to x4 still only lowers performance by around 6-10% from x16.

Your friend is incorrect.

That motherboard will be fine for crossfire, and will drop the x16 slot to x8 when enable, so you'll be running both cards in x8. The performance will be wonderful, and there's no perceivable bottleneck to come from being in x8 mode.

Your CPU shouldn't bottleneck it even at stock, but to be safe have it overclocked to around 4.5ghz. You might as well. Do you have it overclocked now?

What CPU cooler are you using? Also, what power supply do you have?

Please enter your system specs in the UserCP field so we know what components you have. This assists so people don't have to ask you needless questions.

No and No, Your friend is very wrong. The is zero effect 16x vs 8x. And your 2500k will not bottleneck your cards.

Alright, would a Seasonic W750 be more than sufficient for this setup?

Yes, that's a perfectly acceptable PSU for such.
