E7400 Wolfdale problem with overclock

Hi.
Well i have problem with overclock before some days my cpu was at 3.4 overclocked but now i check it and it is at normal 2.8 and i cant overclocked again and i dont know why,the CPU host Frequency(Mhz) dosent work.
I tried everything but nothing happen.

I have. Gigabyte G31M-ES2L
CPU E7400 Wolfdale 2.8 Ghz.
Memory. DDR2 4 GB 2x2
BIOS Ver. G31M-ES2L FI

Are you sure Speed Step isn't kicking in? You're sure the FSB is at default and it's not the multiplier lowering resulting in the clock speed decrease? Speed Step lowers the multiplier at idle to save power. Show a CPU-Z screenshot.

Okay, then it's not that.

Clarify what you mean by the CPU Host Frequency doesn't work. Like, you can't change it, or you can but it takes no effect?

When did it change back to default? Did your PC loose power or crash? Maybe the BIOS settings got reset?

yes it dosent take effect.
well i reset it many times but is the same.

Mobo may not be able to handle that OC. I know that My P35 limits my OC to just a little higher than where I am right now on my sig rig.

well before some days was overclocked so i think it can handle it.

So you set the FSB, then restart, but it's back to stock? Sounds like a BIOS issue (bad battery? corrupt? I don't know).
