Not worth it for at max 5FPS(maybe 10 in some high FPS games). Wait till SB-E or IB. I'm waiting till 2011 then upgrading to a hexacore 1336 and being smart and saving for my house.

So you say wait. But then you are saving to buy a house but are going to buy a 1336 Extreme chip for $800 bucks for a used one? Okay then, whatever works for you.

I am either going to upgrade to 2011 or IB if they have great performance, or buy a 970/980x which the 980x already goes for 600, when 2011 gets here it will drop even more. I am buying a house, but I am also saving all the money for a .5 million USD house on the side of Pike's Peak. My life comes first, and every xmas I treat my self to like 800 dollars and my wife I spend 10k on. I need to save money for the house more than a computer for 5-15FPS MAX.

Thanks guys. I might just find a 1366 socket motherboard for now because I don't really want to buy new cpu, cpu cooler, possibily new rams. I should look for decent 1366 socket deals now lol

Right now it will be best for you to just get a new board or a used one and keep your i7 920 until Ivy Bridge and Bulldozer comes out, than you can upgrade.

Well that is the way it should be. She should come first. Are you doing rendering, encoding. Stuff that will use 6 cores. Or just getting it to get it type deal?

You cooler will work if it has 1156 mounts though. Your ram will work you just have to remove one stick as you would be going to dual channel instead of triple channel. But good luck on your motherboard.

If your cooler is 1156 compatible it will work on 1155. Your ram will work as well, but only 2 sticks are needed, or you'll need a 4th stick for dual channel on 4 dimms.

You can get a really nice EVGA used on the trading S/F for only like 250, which would be great.

I don't think I'll need much on xmas, I go to see family in Russia and Poland every year(6 months for Poland, I try atleast). I just would get it to get it, unless for slightly more I could get a really good SB-E or IB that would do better than a hexacore i7 forsure.

Either a 6 core, IB/SB-E if they aren't that much more, or a 6990/1x6970/2x6970s depending on the dip.
