Any XFX 6950 1GB owner?

Thread Starter
This XFX card is on sale in my country.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-523-_-Product

But I am really worried about the bad reviews? What's up with this card?

I have also heard that the cooler on that card is not good? Even though I have a HAF 922, I have a mATX board and my sound card is right under the graphics card which doesnt provide the GPU with ideal airflow.

And how much does this card overclock just for information? Well given that it is on sale and that I find stock 6950 performance to be more than adequate I wouldnt mind if it didnt overclock much but I dont want temps more than 85C.

Remember this is my ONLY option as all other 6950's are very expensive where I live. I will go with MSI twin frozr II GTX 560 Ti if not this but it is a bit more expensive and I really like the performance of 6950 as it performs much better in crysis and metro 2033, 2 games I'll be replaying from start once I upgrade. Crysis warhead as well.

Check my thread about that specific card that I have.

http://www.overclock.net/amd-ati/985...-1-5v-ram.html

Seems the problem is caused by 1.5v ram, I havent tried to rise my ram voltage to 1.6v because I havent yet recieved my cards back from the border.

But If I had to choose my cards again, I'd buy Sapphires 6950 1gb and MSI twin frzr II 560 ti as a second choice.

hope that helps

Edit: That card con OC from the supplied CCC from 800 Mhz to 840 Mhz and thats a very conservative max OC, and no the card is not hot IMO.

Non reference, cut cost XFX design. I'd definitely stay away from it. XFX is known to have some of the worst cards out there anymore.

yeah sucks that when I bought mine, that card had like 5 reviews and they were not bad at all, its a no brainer to NOT buy that card if you're looking at all those negative feedback.

Ah it seems like from the images on my local website that it is actually the reference version of the XFX 6950 1GB. I wasnt aware XFX even made one?

http://xfxforce.com/en-us/ProductDet...&ModelID=33524

I am going to confirm this from the retailer. If it is non-reference XFX then I am staying away but what if it is the reference design? Good to go then?

Ya I noticed that but maybe they have pulled it from the site now? It's not going to be a problem as I will specifically tell them that the card better be how it looks on their website or I will return it.

When they put up something like this when it is actually a non-reference card then I will have every right to return it.

I live in pakistan.

Btw this is almost certainly the initial stock of 1GB cards as in my country it takes ALOT of time for retailers to run out of stock for high end cards due to less demand.
