1st off im getting a 6970 to tri fire with my 6990 my question to all you magnificent people of overclock.net is my bored only supports tri-fire but has 4 pci-e slots so could i chuck in a gt430 that i can pick up pretty much next to nothing and dedicate it for phys-x, hell is it even worth it i do play a couple of titles with it and im sure more will come out in the future and i guess the other main thing will my corsair ax-1200watt handle it.

Your AX1200 can handle 6990 + 6970 + GT 430. It could support quad 6970s. Is it worth it for PhysX? Not really, but it is up to you.

would i be able to run the tri-fire set up with the 430 or am i limited cos my board only allows for tri-fire i just thought that by putting the 430 in im not going quad just having another card thats dedicated for phys-x.

You'll be fine. IMO, get an 8800gt for Physx if you feel the necessity for it. A GT430 is less powerful and may bottleneck in games. (Ex. Metro 2033, Batman AA)

With those 3 cards you wouldn't pull over 850 watts maximum.
