"This machine should be able to generate 1,000 times more nuclear activity than WB-7, with about eight times more magnetic field," said Park, quoting the publicly available information about WB-8. "We'll call that a good success. That means we're on track with the scaling law."

New article with interviews up, can a mod or member with lots of rep advise me on whether I should make a new thread for it? It will probably get lost in this one, not sure of etiquette for pretty significant followups here.

There's already a thread about WB-8's performance.

So we should ignore women's rights until a real world scenario happens where no man can preform like them. AKA: They are actually proven as pure equals or having skills that would qualify them to be on the same level as us? Change doesn't happen because we ignore something, it happens because we talk about it. Do you ignore crime and violence until it happens to you, I bet you do.

While I agree I think he was simply talking about the myriad of 'breakthroughs' that have been reported on that haven't gone anywhere. A little skepticism never hurt

Lay off the mushrooms.

My feeling on the energy situation is that there are not going to be any major changes unless there is a major discovery made or a crises pushes to act. Right now there is no crises. We accept the price of gas and willingly pay for it. Although some people take the enviromental effects rather seriously, there is no enviromental crises from fossil fuels that will push us into a new form of energy. Until the price is truly unbearable or the effects of useing it put us in a true crises, there will be no major shift.

Fossil fuels are the cheapest, most accessable energy source we currently have. So they will continue to be the most popular.
