PC fails to boot, can't get into bios... - Page 2

I disconnected my 2nd hdd, mouse and cyber snipa game pad and computer booted no problems. Connected my mouse and game pad and had no problems. Ill reconnect the 2nd hdd tonight and see what happens. Hopefully boots with no probs.

Would a key held down on the game pad prevent booting? A few of the keys dont fully return to the top due to the rubber "spring" being ripped underneath. It still works but you barely have to touch the key to activate it.

Thanks to all.

It looked for my primary sata hdd and found it. It looked for my secondary sata hdd but didnt.

I reset a couple times but with same results. You should be able to get into the bios even if a hdd fails? My primary hdd has been through 4-5 builds now so upwards of 7 years old. Think it's the problem? Would a hdd failure not let you get into the bios? I heard some clicking from on of the hdd. I've been concerened lately with it. I've been waiting for it to die.

I'm sure ram is ok. I've had it crap on me before so I known what happens.
I have not checked the ram yet.

I haven't reset the CMOS yet but don't think it will help.

Possibly the sata plug on the mobo or cable?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Thanks

If its that HDD try just plugging that in and see if it boots. If it does then maybe its the motherboard having issues with the SATA controller or the boot sequence?

Try cleaning the keyboard then?

Yea yea, ok there engrish police.

I was thinking maybe the sata controller is having an issue.
I will look at the boot sequence.

The rubber "spring" is ripped. No way to fix it. I attempted to with tape but didn't work. I contacted Flexiglow to buy a new one but they never got back to me. They aren't expensive game pads, time for a new one.

I still haven't connected the 2nd hdd which is my gaming hdd. Minecraft is on my primary so no need for the gaming hdd.

Hi All

Been a while since I posted but haven't been using my computer much.

I've kept the 2nd hdd disconnected and comp boots and operates just fine. Reconnect the hdd and no good.

If it is a sata controller problem is that a hardware or software issue? This is an area I am unfamiliar with. Is the sata controller part of the chipset? If so, uninstall and reinstall of the chipset drivers a fix?

My gut is telling me this is a bigger issue than a dead hdd or bad sata plug. Id hate to RMA my mobo, one because I have to rip the damn thing apart and two be without my pc for a chunk of time. But it would give me the opportunity to finally upgrade to a better cpu cooler.

Thanks

make sure the boot order is bios is set to boot from the correct drive first

try it in the other sata ports on the board and with a different cable

see if it will boot into safe mode with it

Just a quick update. Disconnected my primary hdd with 2nd connected. It took a minute but was able to get into bios. Bios did not see 2nd hdd.

So now I am thinking this is not a sata controller problem. Either a dead hdd or bad sata port or bad cable. Still haven't tried to test either yet.

Thanks

Bad sata port. Connected 2nd hdd into #4 sata port and booted no prob. So now the question is if it's worth it to RMA mobo for bad port? I have one left. Bought mobo in December so only 5 months old.

Any opinions?

Reps to all that posted.

As always, I got great help here.

Thanks

Don't think it would be worth it IMO, just wait it out till your next upgrade. If you do go bulldozer you can get the motherboard and still use your old CPU in it.
