If the OP is concerned with SLI however, than I can understand why he would lean towards the GTX560ti, 2 of those oc'd to 1000 core would be more than adequate for a couple years at least.
Sorry to come out as fanboy, but this is wrong. I have been a exclusive ATi guy from 1900XT to the 6870, and 11/12 of the cards had some issue one way or another, that TOOK months to fix. youtube bug, call of duty 4 crash, dual monitor flickering, battlefield 2 low FPS, etc.

Nvidia seems to fix the issues alot quicker. That, and the scaling on SLI/Crossfire seems to be better with nvidia (except 6000).

Get a 6950 if you really want to, it's a fantastic card.

Note taken, but Nvidia has had there fair share of problems too. Back when the 9600gt came out, there was numerous problems with drivers, if I recall correctly there was a driver release that was actually overvolting the gpu and SLI chipsets. My buddy lost two gpu's and 2 motherboards from that driver release. As of late AMD has been pretty good with drivers, they are constantly updating them, and not every issue is addressed with every release, but the same goes with Nvidia.

Ive been on both sides of the fence, they both have issues. All im saying is buy the cheaper card, because for the money the 6950 and the GTX560ti are relatively close in performance.

If i let my fanboy urgues come at me, with 2x GPUs that perform exactly the same, no issues on either, i would pick nvidia.

But again, the only real answer to the debate is.

BOTH ARE AWESOME

For all the people that recommended the ATI/AMD cards, here is linus saying at 2:05 of the video that the GTX560 preference card out performs the 6870 aswell as the 6950

Only in Physx

How many games have physx ? right....

i would choose an 6950 above a GTX560 anytime.

i would choose a GTX560 above a 6870 though.

GTX 580.

Less upgrading down the road due to not being able to play games as fast as you'd like will lead to less purchases and more money saved in the long run.

And it won't be loud or hot. *Cough* Reference 6950/70 *cough*.

They aren't on PC Case Gear.

OP get a GTX560 and be done with it. Nvidia drivers and GPU size outweigh the 5-10% performance decrease/increase delta.
