Motherboard Upgrade

Thread Starter
I was wondering if you could help me out finding a superior performing motherboard replacement for my Gigabyte GA EX58 UD5.

I have 450$ to upgrade my motherboard.

Here the requirements:

1.)1366 socket for my i7 950
2.)Compatibility with DDR3 Kingston Hyper X 12 GB 1600 CL8(6 Dimms)
3.)CF/SLI capable
4.)Overclocking efficient

Basically it should feature everything my old board did and some extras.

I personally thought the best way to go would be the UD7 but I am not sure if there may be some better alternatives out there.
Also I have had only positive experiences with GA boards , they are highly overclocking efficient for example my 950 only needs 1.21Vcore at 4.1 GHZ , they feature a ton of additional functions and services and they are compatible with everything:)

So if you have some better or superior suggestions please state them.
And on a side note you could also maybe make some examples for a new 12GB RAM replacement as well but conentrate on the board first.

Thx in advance people!

wait a few weeks and the X58A-OC board will be released, around the price of the UD5.

The EVGA X58-OC?
Are you sure it can compare to the UD7 in terms of overclocking efficiency and features?

Also will my "Kingston Hyper X Ram Cooler" fit on that EVGA Board?

DSC_5648.JPG

Kingston-HyperX-Cooler.jpg

I am not sure but the SATA Ports look like Micron which is not very good quality and has a bad bandwidth/transferal rate.

I thought in terms of X58 boards the UD7 was the absolute best choice in the 500$ range.
I have no experience with EVGA Boards but in terms of overclocking, features, compatability I thought Gigabyte was the king until UD9 or SR2?

Aha so this one:fullimage.php?image=29098

Ok that settles that.

Still ...will this version be comparable or even superior to the UD7 in terms of features and overclocking efficiency?
I mean it is the -OC edition lol but still?

Since I can remember there have always been two options either go UD7 and stay upper standard or go huge and take a SR2 or UD9 between there never have been any real potential alternatives.

Yes it is sexy but please also concentrate on the text below.
And answer to that would even be sexier:)

Well since I dont think too many people own these boards yet, all I have is a preview link.

I have read both reviews and it seems that it has some awesome features which are on the other hand not very useful or innovative compared to what we already have on the UD7.

There haven´t been done any structural enhancements to the Gigabyte X58-OC to increase the overclocking efficiency just in my oppinion useless buttons and a power delivery adjustment upgrade.

But that is just me.
According to what we already know about this board can it beat or compare ot the UD7?
Because as we all know at the price class of 450$ the UD7 is unbeatable.
Also two other things:
1.)When would it come out and how much will it cost?
2.)I live in Germany so I could probably expect it a little bit later.

Maybe this will ease the comparsion for you:

Gigabyte X58A-UD7

Gigabyte X58A-OC

So which one is the better choice?
The UD7 which has been the absolute best Board behind UD9 and SR2 or the new X58 OC edition?
